Fish Fortune

Trout Good Fortune

By lying the cutout shape of the fish over the painted
and printed newspaper
I was able to find some areas that seemed like a trout.

The trout of good fortune and prosperity .

Theactual word in Chinese for fish translates into "abundance."

The trout of abundance.

Crow Moon

What is the source of these ?
Upside down thinking and sudden bursts of strategic dreamspeak.
Claiming the crow as  automatic messenger.
 Mystery.

Crows of a Feather

Monoprint Crows

Using the medium weight cardboard from a discarded box
I cut out the crow shape to use
to print with.
I did use the crow shape and have some prints with it
but these are from the cardboard that was left behind.
I used some primer on it first.
I painted both sides to help it hold up to the painting and printing.
Then I brushed on a combination of black, brown and red paint
and printed onto a painted piece of newspaper for the top
bird and a painted piece of
cardboard on the bottom.

Another Dancer on the Page

Dancing Dancer

It's fun to add the dancer to different backgrounds.
The texture piece is lots of pieces of paper stacked and glued
 and more
stacking and gluing.
(One way to use up old newspapers)
Then they were primed with white and
then painted into their purple-black final color.
Lots of color changes in between along
with wiping and blotting to get variations in the color.
I laid that textured squares piece onto
the dark blue spattered paper first but it was just too dark.
 I added the lighter
rose colored pieces to create some contrast.
It's an interesting piece of texture without the dancer but
the dancer on the page
is my repeating theme.
